mcafee+adobe 1 , me 0

someone asked me to about his computer, said it was unresponsive. it seems
that someone unwittingly installed mcafee security scan plus from an
adobe flash update. it was installed on top of regular mcafee security scan. somehow this disabled both scanners and slowed the computer to a crawl.

because the newer plus version was installed, the old mcafee would
update ok, but opening the mcafee security center would say all programs installed (ver 8) were outdated (ver 11 was available because of the stupid plus version). it was unable to ‘fix’ the problem by clicking the ‘fix’ button.
opening security scan plus , it says ‘status: unknown’ for all of its services. there is no way to configure it or change anything. what am i doing wrong? googling for ‘status unknown’ isnt getting me any answers.
i uninstalled the old mcafee and then the computer got faster. after googling some i see that ‘mcafee security scan plus’ isnt actually a virus scanner. what have i done?? i uninstalled ‘mcafee security scan’
because i thought ‘mcafee security scan plus’ was an updated
anti-virus. i dont have any of the registration info to reinstall it.

well back to installing AVG free i guess. oh theres microsoft security essentials too.
fucking adobe can install anything they want. beware.
